Newfoundland & Labrador

May 8th – June 20th

Summer Active is Canada’s annual, six-week community-based physical activity campaign that helps Canadians take their first steps to becoming more active. The goal is to spread the message that active living, healthy eating, and living smoke-free are all key parts of a healthy lifestyle.  Summer Active 2008 runs from May 8th – June 20th. It’s your chance to take initiative and GET ACTIVE!!!

Last year, hundreds of events and programs organized during the Summer Active campaign helped thousands of Canadians to take the first steps towards adopting a healthy lifestyle.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, Summer Active is coordinated by the Department of Tourism, Culture, and Recreation in partnership with the Recreation Newfoundland Labrador. This year, plans are underway for the third annual “June is Recreation Month” theme as part of the Summer Active campaign in our province.

Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to promote it’s Provincial Walking Campaign and will be hosting Walking Clinics through out the province
